This Side Artist Agreement is used when a record label, artist or producer hires another recording artist to be a featured artist on an artist's recording or if hiring a musician or vocalist who is not part of the band or group to perform on an artist's recording. This agreement does not address any union requirements. Therefore, if a side artist is a member of a union then the contract may be amended to include any terms which are required by musician's (AF of M) or vocalist's (AFTRA) union. This agreement sets forth payment terms to pay the side artist, musician or vocalist a flat fee plus a record royalty on the sales of records for their services. The performance and any song rights of the side artist on the recording is owned by the employer as a work for hire.
