This is used when the producer of a film wants to use a master recording owned by a record company on the soundtrack album to a film. For permission to use the song on the compilation album the label would have to obtain a mechanical license from the owner of the song (songwriter or publisher). For use of a master recording in an audiovisual work then you would use the Master Use License (Audiovisual Work).
